Aims and Objectives:

Recent progress in wireless and sensor technologies has lead to a new development of mobile learning, which is able to sense the situation of learners and provide adaptive supports in the authentic environment. Researchers call such feature “context awareness”, and have been investigating the development of new mobile learning environments; nevertheless, the methodologies and applications for conducting effective learning activities in such environments have not yet been well discussed and demonstrated. This special issue aims to enhance mobile learning a step further from learning at anytime anywhere to be at the right time and the right place with right learning resources and right learning peers by applying the context-aware technologies.

Subject Coverage:

This special issue aims at presenting a selection of papers addressing the topics indicated above, but is not limited to them. The following topics are also equally welcome.

 Architecture and applications

 Collaboration support

 Community of practice

 Context management and contextual information collection

 Pedagogical models

 Social network and social networking

 Standards for context-aware and ubiquitous learning

 Tutoring strategy

Submission of papers:

Full paper deadline February 28, 2009

Notification May 31, 2009

Revision deadline July 1, 2009

Special issue January, 2010

Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with the format requirements of the International Journal of Mobile Learning and Organizations. Please note that all manuscripts submitted for review should be in MS Word, double-spaced throughout, and should have an abstract of no more than 150 words. In particular, the complete addresses, fax/phone numbers and e-mail addresses of the author(s) should be indicated only on the cover page. Submitted papers should not have been previously published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. A guide for authors, sample copies and other relevant information for submitting manuscripts are available on the Papers Submission section under Author Guidelines.

To submit a paper, please email to gjhwang@mail.nutn.edu.tw . The email subject should be IJMLO Special Issue Submission. You will normally receive an acknowledgement within a few days. Please provide email addresses for all authors.

Review Process:

Each paper submitted to Inderscience Enterprises Limited is subject to the following review procedures:

  1. It is reviewed by the guest editors for general suitability for this publication.
  2. If it is judged suitable, two reviewers are selected and a double-blind review process takes place.
  3. Based on the recommendations of the reviewers, the guest editors then decide whether the particular article should be accepted as it is, revised or rejected.
