University of Washington, Seattle, WA July 16 - 18, 2008 http://www.cs.washington.edu/homes/ak/clusterworkshop/
This workshop will provide material and curricular support for undergraduate teaching institutions to prepare students for careers in the development and maintenance of software applications for data-intensive scalable computing (DISC). This initial workshop will bring educators and other professionals in computer science and software engineering to the University of Washington, where such a course has been conducted successfully.
The goal of this workshop is to inspire the development of new curricular materials in DISC. Participants will be introduced to existing curriculum components for similar coursework, as well as provided with in-depth hands-on experience using software platforms that make such computing manageable in an undergraduate setting. Time will be allocated for discussions between attendees and representatives from industry and the open-source community to help formulate new ideas to carry back to the academic institutions of the attendees.
Undergraduate computing educators and other interested professionals are invited to apply for this workshop at the link below. All travel, lodging and food costs for the workshop will be covered for accepted attendees. Please apply early as workshop attendance is limited.
Schedule and other information, including online application, are available at http://www.cs.washington.edu/homes/ak/clusterworkshop/
This workshop is sponsored by the National Science Foundation, and supported by Google.
